Testimonials from former students who are ministry and lay leaders and attended practical apologetics class at East Asia School of Theology

"I use to dread doing evangelism because I was never entirely comfortable with simply presenting the Four Spiritual Laws to someone without first trying to discern that person’s level of understanding. It always seemed to me to be like ‘selling’ something to someone without regard to whether they were even ready or willing to buy it. Although I still do not find evangelism easy, knowing the conversational model does help make evangelism feel more natural, and less like a sales pitch. I also realize that evangelism need not be just a one-off hit and run event, but is a process."

"The class really gave me fresh insights into how to bridge to the Gospel even to those who may not be so willing to hear it. Your compassion for the lost (like when you mentioned how sad you felt when you saw a group of people bowing down to a monk at the airport) has touched my heart."

"For sometime, I’ve been wondering how apologetics can be integrated into evangelism and I am glad I found the answer in your class. The church needs to be equipped in this...I am leading a cell group in my church and have been sharing with my members some of the things I’ve learned in your class."

"I personally do feel that this model can be applied to the Singaporean Chinese and that it will be useful for my cell group as we relate and evangelize to our relatives and friends who are mostly Chinese."
- Sheena
"If evangelism is a process as what we've learned in class over the last ten weeks, and our interaction with our non-believing friends should act as a signpost, covertly and overtly, to draw them away from their faulty worldviews and towards the Christian worldview, how can we live in a way that fulfils this purpose? The Conversational Evangelism model of Hearing, Illuminating, Uncovering and Building allowed me to do the above with my friends in a non-threatening manner and enabled me to begin, and hopefully complete, the process of evangelism with more confidence."
- Kenny
"The advantages of this method is that it really allows you to take your non-Christian friend on a journey of self discovery as he learns to discover for himself the potholes in his arguments and beliefs."
- Melvin
"I discovered that Conversational Evangelism can be quite fun to do but I must admit is takes lots of courage, wisdom and sensitivity to form and ask those questions. But it is really enjoyable. After this course I’ve had a changed attitude in doing pre-evangelism...Therefore I no longer feel stressful even doing apologetics."
